What Is Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a complementary medicine that emphasises the physical manipulation of the body’s muscle tissue and bones. It is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the harmonious functioning of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopathic practitioners use a variety of techniques, such as stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance, with the aim of improving the body’s overall function and promoting self-healing.
Osteopathy is often sought for relief from musculoskeletal pain, but it is also utilised as a holistic approach to healthcare, taking into account the body’s integrated systems. This practice is often used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment and can be applied to a wide range of conditions. Osteopathy’s whole-person approach to health supports all ages to keep active and mobile, and aiding recovery from acute joint and muscle injuries or contributing to the management of relieving chronic long-term conditions. Osteopathic treatment includes physical therapy, exercise prescription and health advice.
Research suggests that the integration of several treatment approaches as practiced by Osteopaths, maybe the most effective management strategy. 96.4% of Osteopathic patients say they are satisfied or very satisfied with their Osteopathic care.
